چکیده

High fidelity, three-dimensional computer models based on a CAD drawing of an intermodal cargo container, representative payload objects, and detector array panels were developed to simulate the underlying physical events taking place during active interrogation. These computer models are used to assess the performance of interrogation systems with different sources and detection schemes. In this presentation, we will show that the use oversimplified models, such as analyzing homogenized payloads only, can lead to errors in determining viable approaches for

The study of neutron interactions with soft tissue using Monte Carlo simulation using the source PF

The most important part of neutron therapy treatment (NCT1) is to achieve a beam of neutrons with suitable energy and intensity, as well as the least pollution and damage. In this study, in order to correct the neutron spectrum from D-D fusion and its use in neutron therapy, a set of different materials which are called the Beam Shaping Assembly (BSA) was placed in the direction of energy 2.45 ...

Second Research Coordination Meeting: IAEA CRP on “Neutron Based Techniques for the Detection of Illicit Materials and Explosives”, Mumbai, 12-16 November 2007 FAST NEUTRON AND GAMMA-RAY INTERROGATION OF AIR CARGO CONTAINERS

Since 2002 the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has been working with the Australian Customs Service to develop a scanner capable of directly imaging airfreight containers in 1-2 minutes [1-4]. The scanner combines fast neutron and gamma-ray radiography (FNGR) to provide high-resolution images that include information on material composition. By collecting trans...

Benchmarking Monte Carlo Simulations of Thermal Neutron Kinetics and Differential Die-away Analysis

Differential Die-Away Analysis (DDAA) is a very effective technique for detection of special nuclear material (SNM). It is based on fission neutrons that are detected with a time constant characteristic of the thermal neutron that created them. The presence of fast neutrons with this slow die-away time is a positive indication of the presence of SNM in the inspected cargo. Results are presented...

High-Yield D-T Neutron Generator

A high-yield D-T neutron generator has been developed for neutron interrogation in homeland security applications such as cargo screening. The generator has been designed as a sealed tube with a performance goal of producing 5·10 n/s over a long lifetime. The key generator components developed are a radio-frequency (RF) driven ion source and a beamloaded neutron production target that can handl...

Accelerator-Driven Neutron Source for Cargo Screening

Advanced neutron interrogation systems for screening sea-land cargo containers for shielded special nuclear materials (SNM) require a high-yield neutron source to achieve the desired detection probability, false alarm rate, and throughput. The design of an accelerator-driven neutron source is described that utilizes the D(d,n)He reaction to produce a forward directed beam of up to 8.5 MeV neutr...
